You know how a while ago I wrote a long blethering blog post about my decision to enter a poetry competition, and about how this was kind of a big deal for me but that I had zero confidence in the idea of winning, or even coming anywhere really, because miracles-don’t-really-happen-to-poor-kids-at-Christmas-blah?
Um. Well. Guess what? I won.
No, really. I had official confirmation today. It was this thing here:
for my poem inspired by The Dutchess of Malfi. Believe me, reading several, however surprised you are, you couldn’t possibly be as surprised as me.
Now all there is to do is decide where I’m sending the spoils. I’ve got to cover some vet bills and venue hire, but I also want to donate because, well, if you can you should, and capitalism is an evil soul-sucking virus. In any case, it’s enough for me that I won. Positive proofs, you know? External verification.

My dear friend from across the pond, has finally begun to get the recognition she deserves. Well done Cuz, (resisting the urge to say “I told you so”) Everyone else: do yourself a favor and read her work, listen to her work, and buy the book to be released VERY soon from SALT.
